When Christmas comes around, I feel the need to decorate every free space, which includes my desk at work. My office has rules about Christmas decorations (bah humbug), so this year I thought I would make something fun to set on my desk that didn’t require lights, didn’t smell, and wasn’t “too much”.

Laurie, who loves all things glitter, came up with the idea for these cute (and inexpensive) DIY Glitter Christmas Trees that will definitely glam up a desk, a mantle or just about anywhere.

Project Supplies that you will need:

This project could not be any easier. First you will need some of those white Styrofoam cones that you find in the flower decorating section of the craft store. They come in all sizes, we picked two small and one medium sized cone.

We stuck a pencil in the bottom of the cones so that we could hold it more easily during the glittering process. Using a crafting brush, we covered the cone with Mod Podge. Then we sprinkled glitter all over the cone until the Mod Podge was completely covered. Tap off the excess glitter and allow the tree to dry overnight. We used White and Red glitter but these Glitter Christmas trees would be fun in any color!

(Here is a Two Sisters Crafting Tip for working with glitter … give your glittered item a light spritz with aerosol hair spray to help keep the glitter from flaking off!)

To “decorate” the Glitter Christmas Tree we used these Lomey Pearl White Corsage / Boutonniere Pins and these Red Pearl Corsage / Boutonniere Pins! We just randomly stuck the pins into the Styrofoam – instant Christmas ornaments and no glue needed! So easy and so very pretty!

This is a really fun and easy project and these DIY Glitter Christmas Trees would be a great Christmas decoration to make with your kids!
