7 fantastic tutorials to teach you how to apply eyeliner properly

Do you know what I suck at? Eyeliner. I don’t know which type to buy, I don’t know which color works best with my eyes, and I certainly don’t know how to apply it, but thanks to these FANTASTIC tutorials I found on YouTube, I’m finally learning how to apply eyeliner PROPERLY.

At least I think I am.

It’s taken a lot of trial and error both with different techniques and products, but I think I’m finally in a good place when it comes to my eye makeup. Tutorial #6 tends to work best with my eyes and skill set, and I’m really crushing on L’Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner these days, but all of these looks are pretty spectacular if your hand is steady enough to pull them off!

HOW TO APPLY EYELINER BY MAKEUP GEEK

This is one of the FIRST make-up tutorials I ever watched when I was trying to up my beauty game, and it’s still one of my favorites. While I have dabbled in various kinds of eyeliners over my life, eye pencils are still my favoite and Makeup Geek gives some great tips in this tutorial. She recommends the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, with Rimmel eye pencils being a close second for those who are more budget-conscious. I’ve had luck with both, and love her trick for applying eyeliner to your waterline and preventing it from running!

HOW TO APPLY EYELINER LIKE A PRO BY GOSSMAKEUPARTIST

I love love love Wayne Goss, and he does not disappoint with this tutorial on how to apply eyeliner with a push eyeliner brush and your favorite eyeshadow. I love that you can make this look as natural or dramatic as you like, and his technique for making your eyelashes look thicker and darker is amazing!

EASY WAYS TO USE LIQUID EYELINER BY MICHELLE PHAN

If liquid liner is your thing, Michelle Phan has everything you need to know for proper application. If you prefer felt tip liners, Maybelline Makeup Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner is a great product to try, and these eyeliner stencils are great for beginners!

NATURAL EVERYDAY MAKEUP BY THEMAKEUPCHAIR

If you prefer a more natural look over a defined eyelid line, this tutorial by TheMakeupChair will inspire you. Skip ahead to the 1:47 mark and watch how she applies a basic black liner and blends it in with an angled brush. Subtle yet sexy, don’t you think?!

PERFECT WINGED EYELINER TUTORIAL BY MELRAE SEGAL 

Perfectly applied winged eyeliner can really make your eyes pop, and this beginners tutorial will teach you how to get the look using L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Precision Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner. She makes it look so easy!

WATERLINE EYELINER TIPS: THE MONEY LOOK WITH MICHELLE MONEY BY LOOK TV

You may not have liked Michelle Money on The Bachelor (did anyone?), but you will love her tips on how to make your eyes pop and appear bigger in this tutorial! I’ve been using this trick for years and it really does work!!!

THE MOST AMAZING MAKEUP TIP YOU WILL EVER LEARN BY GOSSMAKEUPARTIST

If you just simply CANNOT master any of the techniques above, give this AMAZING eyelash curler trick by Wayne Goss a try. It takes some practice, but I promise you will love it!
