Let’s mix three of our favorite holiday drinks—peppermint, mocha, and eggnog—into one magical drink!

This Peppermint Mocha Eggnog will blow your mind if you like rich, creamy eggnog and the chocolatey coffee flavor of a peppermint mocha.
It feels like a hug in a mug, and it’s festive and cozy.
This drink is great for drinking by the Christmas tree, serving at holiday parties, or making a lot for your family movie night.
Chocolate, coffee, and a hint of peppermint that cools you down all together make you feel like it’s the holidays! And the best thing is? You can easily make it without alcohol or add something special for the adults. Let’s get going!
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups of eggnog, either store-bought or made at home
- 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee or espresso that has cooled down
- 1/4 cup of milk or cream (optional, for more creaminess)
- 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup, plus more to drizzle on top
- 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract (a little bit goes a long way!)
- For the top, whipped cream
- Candy canes that have been crushed for decoration
- 1 ounce of peppermint schnapps or coffee liqueur (for adults) is optional.
Equipment Needed
- Small pot (if you want it warm)
- Whisk
- Spoons and cups for measuring
- Mugs for serving at parties
- Spoon for pouring chocolate
Instructions
- Make the coffee
Make your coffee or espresso and let it cool down a bit. If you’re mixing it with cold eggnog, you don’t want it to be too hot. - Combine the Ingredients
If you want to serve it warm, use a small saucepan; if you want to serve it cold, use a mixing bowl. Whisk together the eggnog, coffee, milk (if using), chocolate syrup, and peppermint extract. If you want to serve it warm, heat it slowly over low heat, but don’t let it boil.
- Get the mugs ready
If you want to be fancy, pour some chocolate syrup into the mugs before you pour the drink. It gives it a nice swirl and more chocolate flavor! - Serve and Decorate
Put the peppermint mocha eggnog in your mug(s). Add a lot of whipped cream on top, drizzle with more chocolate syrup, and sprinkle crushed candy canes on top. Add a sprig of fresh mint to the top for a festive touch!
Storage & Tips

You can mix the eggnog, coffee, milk, chocolate syrup, and peppermint extract together and keep it in the fridge for up to two days. Before serving, just warm it up or stir it well.
Put any leftovers in a covered container in the fridge for up to two days. You can heat it up slowly on the stove or eat it cold over ice.
Don’t use too much peppermint. Peppermint extract is very strong, so start with a little and add more if you need to. The drink can be too strong.
This drink can be served hot or cold. You can serve it warm for a cozy treat or over ice for a cold one.
If you don’t have an espresso machine, strong brewed coffee works just as well. If you need to, you can even use instant coffee.
- Crush Candy Canes Easily: To quickly and easily crush candy canes, put them in a zip-top bag and use a rolling pin or the back of a spoon.
- Change the sweetness: If your eggnog is already very sweet, you might want to use coffee that isn’t sweet or use less chocolate syrup.
If you want a vegan version, use almond or oat nog and whipped cream that doesn’t have any dairy in it.
No Coffee? Instead of coffee, use hot cocoa or just skip it for a pure peppermint chocolate eggnog.
Add a splash of Bailey’s, Kahlúa, or peppermint schnapps to make it a drink for adults.
Add more peppermint: For a more festive touch, add a peppermint stick to the top of your drink or crush candy canes and use them to rim your mug.
