This Cranberry Eggnog Sour is the best holiday drink because it’s creamy, tangy, and just sweet enough.

It’s great for drinking by the fire, throwing a holiday party, or even with Christmas cookies.
Flavor Profile
The rich eggnog, tart cranberry, and lemon flavor are a perfect match.
Also, it’s easy to make and looks really nice without being too fancy. Believe me, you’ll want to make it every year after you try it!
Ingredients

- ◯ 2 ounces of eggnog, either store-bought or homemade
- ◯ 1 ounce of unsweetened cranberry juice
- ◯ 1 ounce of bourbon (or rum, if you like)
- ◯ ½ ounce of lemon juice that has just been squeezed
- ◯ ½ oz of simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- ◯ 1 egg white (optional but recommended for frothiness)
- ◯ Ice cubes (to shake)
For garnish:
- ◯ sugared cranberries
- ◯ a twist of lemon
- ◯ a sprinkle of nutmeg
Equipment
- Shaker for cocktails
- Strainer
- Jigger (or tools for measuring)
- Juicer for citrus
- Glass for rocks
Instructions
- Get the cocktail shaker ready. Put the eggnog, cranberry juice, bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white into the shaker. Don’t add ice yet.
- Shake it dry. Put the lid on the shaker and shake it hard for about 15 seconds to make the egg white froth.
- Put in ice and shake again. To cool the drink, open the shaker, add ice cubes, and shake it again for 15 seconds.

- Strain and serve. Put the cocktail through a strainer into a cold rocks glass.
- Add a garnish. Add a twist of lemon, some sugared cranberries, and a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. Serve right away!
Don’t skip the egg white; it’s what makes the drink have that lovely creamy foam on top!
Tips & Variations
- Sugared cranberries: To make a sparkly, festive garnish, roll cranberries in simple syrup and then in sugar.
- Change the Sweetness: Start with ½ oz of simple syrup, but you can add more if you want it to be sweeter.
- Make it Kid-Friendly: For a fun cranberry eggnog mocktail, leave out the alcohol!
- Chill Everything: Use cold eggnog and juice to keep the drink cold without too much ice.
- For a unique twist, use rum, brandy, or even amaretto instead of bourbon.
- If you have it, use sweetened cranberry juice. Just change the simple syrup.
- If you don’t want to drink alcohol, you can use a splash of vanilla extract or some sparkling water instead of the bourbon.
Make Ahead & Storage
- You can mix the cranberry juice, eggnog, and lemon juice together and keep them in the fridge for up to a day. When you’re ready to serve, shake with alcohol and ice.
- Prepare the sugared cranberries ahead of time; they can be kept in the fridge for a day or two.
- You should drink this cocktail right away! You can keep any leftover mix (without the egg white) in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Before serving, shake it with ice.
