Almond Butter Espresso Shake

Hey! This Almond Butter Espresso Shake is the perfect creamy, energizing, and oh-so-delicious snack.
It’s great for busy mornings, a quick pick-me-up in the afternoon, or even a snack after working out.
It has a lot of protein, natural sweetness, and a strong espresso kick. It’s a family favorite in our house (my husband says it’s better than his coffee shop latte!).
It’s also very easy to make.
Let’s mix things up!
Ingredients

- 1 cup of almond milk without sugar
- 1 banana that has been frozen
- 1 tablespoon of almond butter
- 1 shot of espresso (or 1/4 cup of strong coffee that has cooled)
- 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- Four to five ice cubes
Tools
- Blender
- Coffee maker or espresso machine
- Spoons for measuring
- Mixing machine
- Cups and spoons for measuring
- A spoon for drizzling almond butter
Put pre-measured banana chunks, almond butter dollops, and ice cubes in a bag and freeze them together so you can make smoothies on the go.
Make your coffee or espresso the night before and put it in the fridge to cool.
Instructions

- Make your espresso
Make a new shot of espresso or a small amount of strong coffee. Let it cool down a little. - Put the ingredients in the blender
Mix almond milk, frozen banana, almond butter, espresso, vanilla, cinnamon, and honey (if using) in a blender. Put the ice cubes on top. - Mix until smooth
Blend everything on high for 30 to 60 seconds, or until the shake is smooth and creamy. - Pour and serve
Put the shake in a tall glass. You can add a little extra almond butter, cocoa powder, or cinnamon on top, and some espresso beans for decoration (if you want).
Tips & Variations
- Freeze your banana ahead of time. This makes the shake creamier and cuts down on the need for extra ice.
- No espresso? No problem! Instant coffee is great in a pinch; just mix 1–2 teaspoons with a little water.
- Blend in layers: first add the liquid, then the banana and almond butter. This stops clumps from forming and makes the blender happy!
- Change the sweetness: If the banana is ripe enough, you can skip the sweetener or change it to your liking.
- For a kid-friendly version, replace the espresso with cocoa powder or chocolate milk for a treat that kids will love.
Substitutes
- You can use oat, coconut, or regular milk instead of almond milk.
- No nuts: Use tahini or sunflower seed butter instead of almond butter.
- No caffeine: For a shake that’s safe for kids, skip the espresso and use decaf coffee or just milk.
- Extra Protein: For an extra boost, mix in a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder.
Storage
You should eat this shake right away, but you can keep leftovers in a sealed jar in the fridge for a few hours. Before you drink it, give it a quick stir. It might separate a little.

This Almond Butter Espresso Shake is rich, dreamy, and full of energy. This recipe is perfect for when you need a caffeine fix or just want a quick snack that feels fancy.
