Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken

Everyone in the family loves Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken! Easy chicken with a cornflake crust that is baked on a sheet pan until it is crispy and tasty. The secret is to use two coats of crumbs. But my sauce is even better. Honey that is sweet and has the right amount of spices and sea salt. A tasty dinner for family and friends on a weeknight.
This hot chicken is the recipe I was most excited to share this week. We really like this recipe, even though it’s not anything too out of the ordinary. My family always likes baked chicken with sauce on it, but I usually make a buffalo-style sauce.
Everyone agrees on dinner, which makes my life easier!
From time to time, I’ll change things up and make my own version of Nashville hot honey sauce. I’ve been making hot honey sauce for a long time, but this is the best one I’ve ever made after trying and failing many times.
Of course, it’s the easiest sauce, but I’ll never complain about how easy it is to cook!

Ingredients

- 6 cups of cornflakes (gluten-free if you need to)
- 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- A little salt (for coating)
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons of hot sauce (for coating)
- 2 pounds of chicken breast tenderloins
- Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 2–3 tablespoons of hot sauce (for sauce)
- 1 to 3 teaspoons of cayenne pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon of chipotle chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder (for sauce)
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder (for sauce)
- Sea salt (for sauce)
- Fresh thyme, cilantro, or parsley, to serve
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Put parchment paper on a baking sheet.
- In a food processor, mix the cornflakes, parmesan, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and a little salt. Pulse until the crumbs are very small. You can also crush the crumbs by stepping on them in a ziplock bag. Put the crumbs in a bowl that isn’t too deep.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs, then add the hot sauce and chicken and mix well to coat.
- Cover the chicken completely with the crumbs by dredging it through them. Put on the baking sheet that you made. To make the coating thicker, dip the chicken back into the eggs and then into the crumbs again. Put it on the baking sheet that has been prepared. Drizzle olive oil on top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges are crispy.

- Make the sauce right before the chicken is done cooking. Put the honey, hot sauce, cayenne, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder in a sauce pot and heat them up together with a little salt. The chili powder gives the sweet, spicy, and salty sauce a very light smokiness.
- Pour the warm sauce over the chicken. Add herbs to the top. If the sauce gets too thick, put it in the microwave for five seconds. Have fun! You can use as much or as little sauce as you want, but I always end up drizzling every last drop over the chicken. It’s SO GOOD. Add herbs and then finish with sea salt. This is the best hot honey chicken ever. I also love how simple it is to make.
Notes & Tips

This hot honey chicken recipe needs the coating to work. The crushed cornflakes are the best part; they make the chicken crunchy. I’ve tried other cereals, but everyone in the family agrees that cornflakes taste and crunch the best.
Nature’s Path Organic Corn Flakes Cereal is what I use. It’s gluten-free and not made with GMOs. I buy things online, but if you want to buy something in person, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are both good places to go.
You can also use the box of regular cornflakes that we all grew up with. I like the organic, no gluten, no sugar option better, but either one works.
It might sound strange, but the cheese gives the chicken tenders a salty taste that melts over them and makes them crispy as they bake.
I like to serve this with sweet potato fries and my favorite winter salad. I highly suggest having some crispy sweet potato fries on the side. So good with the hot sauce!
Put the rest of your chicken in an airtight container and bake it the next day or heat it up in the air fryer for leftovers.
