The Cherry Blossom Sour

Hey there!
The Cherry Blossom Sour is one of my favorite beverages. It looks nice, tastes good, and is a little fancy, but it’s quite easy to prepare at home.
The egg white gives it a frothy top, and the orgeat gives it a bit of almond flavor. It tastes like something you’d drink at a cocktail bar.
This drink is great for romantic nights, brunches with friends, or even simply to reward yourself after a hard day.
Let’s get started right away!
Ingredients and Tools

Here is all you need to make this tasty drink:
- 2 ounces of whiskey or bourbon
- 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice
- 1 ounce of cherry syrup, either store-bought or homemade
- 1/4 ounce of orgeat (almond syrup)
- One egg white (or aquafaba for a vegan variant)
- Ice
- Garnish: Cherry or edible flower petals that are fresh
Shaker for cocktails
Jigger (sometimes called a measuring cup)
Optional: fine mesh strainer
A coupe or a martini glass
Step-by-Step Preparation
- Get your ingredients ready:
Put your bourbon, lemon juice, cherry syrup, orgeat, and egg white in separate containers. - Dry Shake: Put the bourbon, lemon juice, cherry syrup, orgeat, and egg white in a shaker without ice. Shake the container firmly for 10 to 15 seconds to make foam.
- Add Ice and Shake Again: Open the shaker, add some ice, and shake it again for 15 seconds or until it is cold.
- Strain and Serve: Pour the drink into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
- Add a garnish and enjoy:
Add a fresh cherry on top or some edible flower petals for a splash of color.

Tips & Variations
Twice shake!
First, shake the ingredients without ice to make the egg white lovely and fluffy. Then add ice and shake it again to cool it down.
This cocktail is even better with homemade cherry syrup. Just cook fresh cherries with sugar and water, then drain them.
Don’t forget the garnish!
The small cherry or edible blossoms make the drink feel special.
If you’re cooking this for a group, mix the ingredients (except the egg white) ahead of time and then shake each drink separately.
Don’t like bourbon? You can switch it out for gin or vodka and it will taste just as good.
Instead of egg white, use aquafaba (the liquid from a can of chickpeas).
No alcohol: Use sparkling water or lemonade instead of bourbon to make a cherry spritzer.
Different Syrups: Instead of cherry syrup, try raspberry or pomegranate syrup.
You may make the cherry syrup a week ahead of time and keep it in the fridge.
If you’re serving a lot of people, get all of your garnishes ready ahead of time to make things easier.
Store any extra cherry syrup in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a week.
The cocktail is best drunk right away because the foam will start to settle over time.

Conclusion
The Cherry Blossom Sour is one of those drinks that looks great yet is quite easy to create.
This drink is usually a hit, whether you’re creating it for yourself or for friends.
I’d love to know how it goes for you!
