Helpful Hints
- Make the coffee ahead of time and put it in the fridge so it’s ready when you are.
- Mix for creaminess: Mixing the protein powder with the coconut milk makes the drink smooth and foamy.
- Toasting your coconut flakes for only one to two minutes in a dry skillet will give them a nutty, caramelized flavor.
- Change the sweetness if you don’t like coffee that is too sweet. Don’t use syrup, or just a little quantity to start.
- Make it kid-friendly by switching out the coffee for decaf or the cold chocolate milk for a fun treat!
Changes and substitutions
- If you like, you can use almond, oat, or cashew milk instead of coconut milk.
- You can use a plant-based protein powder or collagen powder if you want a dairy-free or keto option.
- You can use honey, agave, or even a few drops of liquid stevia instead of sugar here.
- No caffeine: Try herbal coffee substitutes like chicory root or decaf coffee.
Storing and Using Leftovers
- You can keep additional coffee in the fridge for up to three days.
- You can keep the mixture of coconut milk and protein in the fridge for one to two days in a sealed jar. Before using, shake well.
