- ½ cup of made espresso or strong coffee that has cooled down
- ½ cup of sugar in granules
- 3 big eggs
- Two egg yolks
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
Kitchen Tools
- A small pot
- Whisk
- Bowls for mixing
- Strainer with fine mesh
- Ramekins or a 6-inch round baking dish
- Big baking dish (for the water bath)
Instructions
- Put the sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Let it cook without stirring until it gets a deep amber color.
- Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish and tilt it to coat the bottom evenly. Let it get hard.
- Put the milk, cream, and brewed coffee in a pot and heat them over medium heat until they are warm but not boiling.
- Whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until the mixture is smooth and light.

- While whisking continually, slowly add the warm coffee mixture into the egg mixture. Strain to get rid of bubbles.
- Carefully pour the custard over the caramel that has solidified in the baking dish.
- Put the baking dish in a bigger pan that has hot water in it. Set the oven to 325°F (160°C) and bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
- After it cools, put the flan in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Cut around the edges with a knife, flip it over onto a platter, and allow the caramel sauce run over the flan.
Tips & Serving

- You can keep it in the fridge for up to three days.
- For the greatest caramel texture, serve it cold.
- For a strong coffee flavor, use freshly brewed espresso.
- Don’t stir the caramel while it’s cooking; simply gently swirl the pan.
- If you want your flan to be especially smooth, strain the custard before baking.
- To keep the flan from cracking, bake it in a water bath.
- For the finest texture and caramel absorption, chill overnight.
