Ingredients for lavender latte including coffee and lavender syrup

Instructions

  1. Make the coffee: Pour 1 shot of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong coffee into your mug.
  2. Warm up the milk: Heat 1 cup of milk in a small pot or microwave until it is warm but not boiling.
  3. Put in the lavender syrup: Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of lavender syrup (plus honey, if you want) into the warm milk.

Preparing lavender latte milk frothing step

  1. Make the Milk Frothy: To make foamy foam, use a frother, a whisk, or shake the milk in a jar.
  2. Pour and Serve: Pour the milk mixture over the coffee, using a spoon to hold back the foam. Then, use the spoon to put the foam on top.
  3. Add some color: Optional: Add dried lavender on top for a decorative touch. Enjoy right away!

Tips & Notes

  • For the creamiest latte, use whole milk or plant-based milk that is made for baristas, like oat milk.
  • A little lavender goes a long way, but don’t use too much or it can taste like soap. Add extra syrup if you need to, but start with less.
  • To make lavender syrup at home, bring 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of dried lavender buds to a boil and let them simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Cool and strain!
  • You can create lavender syrup ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks.
  • No lavender syrup? Put a drop of lavender essential oil (food-grade only!) or a sprinkle of dried lavender in honey or sugar.
  • Want it cold? Don’t froth the milk; just pour everything over ice for a cool iced lavender latte.
  • Would you rather have tea? If you want a lavender tea latte, switch the coffee for black tea or Earl Grey.
  • This latte is best when it’s fresh, but you can keep the leftover lavender syrup in the fridge for up to two weeks in an airtight container.
