Instructions

  1. Make one cup of fresh, hot coffee first.
  2. Add 1 1/2 ounces of Kahlúa to the mug, then stir in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar until it dissolves.

Mixing Kahlúa and brown sugar into coffee

  1. Put a big swirl of whipped cream on top of the coffee.
  2. Add a cinnamon stick for decoration and sprinkle ground cinnamon on top. Enjoy right away!

Tips & Variations

  • Use a dark roast coffee or a Mexican coffee brand like Café de Olla to give it a real Mexican taste.
  • To keep your drink warm, heat up your mug with hot water before you make it.
  • A sprinkle of cocoa powder on top with the cinnamon gives it a nice chocolatey taste.
  • No Kahlua? Change it to tequila or rum and add a little vanilla extract to make it delicious.
  • Want it without dairy? You can use coconut whipped cream or not at all.
  • Add a little cayenne pepper or chili powder to the coffee for added flavor!
  • You can make your coffee ahead of time and keep it in a thermos or heat it up when you’re ready to use it.
  • Mexican Coffee is best when it’s fresh, but if you have some left over, put it in the fridge and heat it up later.
