Refreshing Watermelon Daiquiri in a glass with garnish

This Watermelon Daiquiri is the best cocktail to cool you off. It tastes like fresh watermelon and is sweet, sour, icy cold, and full of flavor.

It’s great for a barbecue in the garden, a date night at home, or just relaxing on a hot day.

And it’s quite simple to create! You may also make a variation that kids can eat so that no one feels left out. Let’s get started!

Ingredients

Fresh watermelon and cocktail ingredients laid out

  • 4 cups of fresh watermelon chunks with the seeds taken off or not.
  • 2 ounces of white rum (or more, if you want)
  • 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, which is around one lime
  • 1 ounce of simple syrup (adjust for sweetness)
  • 2 cups of ice

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Small sieve (optional, for straining)
  • Spoons and cups for measuring
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Serving glasses

Instructions

  1. Get your ingredients ready. Cut the watermelon into cubes and get rid of the seeds.
  2. Mix it everything together. Put the watermelon, rum, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice in a blender. Mix until smooth.

Blending watermelon daiquiri ingredients in blender

  1. Test the Taste. If you need to, taste your daiquiri and add more lime or sugar. Mix for a few more seconds.
  2. Optional: Strain. If you want a smoother drink, strain the daiquiri through a small sieve into the glasses you will be using.
  3. Serve and Enjoy. Pour into glasses that have been cooled, add a lime wedge or watermelon slice as a garnish, and serve right away. Cheers!

Tips & Variations

  • Choose a Sweet Watermelon: The sweeter your watermelon is, the better your daiquiri will taste. If the rind has a creamy yellow patch on it, that’s a sign that it’s ripe.
  • Change the Sweetness: Start with 1 ounce of simple syrup and taste it. You might not need more watermelon because the sweetness can change.
  • Put the watermelon in the freezer. If you want your daiquiri to be even slushier, freeze the pieces of watermelon for an hour before combining.
  • For a family-friendly variation, leave out the rum and add a dash of soda water or coconut water instead.
  • Chill the Glasses: Before serving, put your glasses in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes. It makes the drink feel even more special!
  • No Simple Syrup? Instead, use agave or honey. Before blending, mix it with some warm water to dissolve it.
  • No lime? Lime adds that typical daiquiri flavor, but lemon juice works too.
  • Put in some mint! Add some fresh mint leaves for a new twist.
  • Add a handful of frozen strawberries or pineapple chunks to make a fruity combination.

Fresh watermelon daiquiris are the greatest, but if you have any left over, put them in a container that can go in the freezer and freeze them. When you’re ready to eat them again, mix them with a little extra ice.

This Watermelon Daiquiri is the perfect drink to make you feel like summer will never end. It’s easy to make, tastes great, and can be changed to fit anyone in the family.
